Daimian Hines Serves as Guest Critic at University of Michigan

Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning | Winter 2017

Daimian Hines was invited to serve as a guest critic for the Visual Representation and Communication for Urban Planners studio at the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning.

This studio focused on the transformation of complex datasets into compelling visual narratives for use in urban planning. Students explored methods of filtering and representing large-scale spatial information—such as alternative transportation networks—through maps, diagrams, and interpretive graphics. The work emphasized clarity, legibility, and the communicative power of visual language in shaping public understanding of planning data.
