Daimian S. Hines, AIA, NOMA
Daimian, is the Founding Principal of Hines Architecture +Design, where he leads a multidisciplinary practice committed to thoughtful, inclusive, and impactful design. With over two decades of experience, Daimian’s work spans civic, education, hospitality, institutional, and urban design—anchored by a commitment to design excellence and community relevance.
His portfolio includes major commissions such as the new Jamaican Houses of Parliament, the African American Memorial at Bates M. Allen Park in Fort Bend County, Mustang Park Community Center, and Rebirth in Action Phase II, a new cultural destination in Houston’s historic Freedmen’s Town.
Daimian’s approach is shaped by global experience—including immersive research in Chandigargh, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Delhi, India and Berlin, Germany, and over two decades of architectural practice across Detroit, Chicago, Houston, and Asia. While based in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma), he contributed to large-scale urban development efforts during a time of national transition, deepening his approach to architecture as a vehicle for cultural clarity and community grounding.
His firm, HINESAD, was founded on the principle that architecture should more than solve technical challenges but also foster meaning, identity, and long-term value. The studio’s work bridges vision and feasibility, delivering projects that resonate across scales—from regional master plans to culturally anchored institutions and civic infrastructure.
In addition to his practice, Daimian was appointed as a Commissioner on the City of Houston Planning Commission and serves on several nonprofit boards, including the Rowhouse CDC, Houston Freedmen’s Town Conservancy, Astrodome Conservancy, and the Jamaican Museum & Cultural Center. He is a 2024 AIA Houston Design Award recipient and has contributed to academic and professional discourse as an invited presenter at Rice University School of Architecture and guest critic at the University of Houston Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design and the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning.
Daimian continues to lead projects that are as technically rigorous as they are culturally resonant, offering clients creative leadership that balances vision, feasibility, and impact.
