The Architect’s Newspaper featured the winning entry for Jamaica’s international Houses of Parliament design competition in an article titled “Jamaica unveils winning design for its new Houses of Parliament in Kingston”.
Daimian Hines, founder and principal of HINESAD, served as lead designer for the winning proposal—praised by the international jury as a “grand and heroic gesture.” Set within National Heroes Park, the project envisions a bold new civic landmark rooted in national symbolism, democratic values, and post-colonial identity.
The design balances monumental presence with accessibility, integrating landscape, public procession, and spatial equity into the heart of Jamaica’s capital. This commission represents a significant moment in the island’s architectural legacy—marking a future-forward vision grounded in cultural pride and people-first design.
