Daimian Hines Serves as Guest Critic Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design
Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design | Spring 2016
Daimian Hines was invited to serve as a guest critic for the Yangon Design Studio, an advanced architecture studio at the University of Houston’s Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design. The studio included a study abroad component in Yangon, Myanmar, and explored the city’s colonial and contemporary urban conditions.
Student proposals focused on an urban-scale intervention along Strand Road and the Yangon River, within the heart of the city’s Central Business District. The studio examined how architecture might engage Myanmar’s evolving identity and complex urban fabric.
