Daimian Hines Serves as Guest Critic at University of Michigan

Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning | Winter 2016

Daimian Hines was invited to serve as a guest critic for a design studio at the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning. The studio focused on the perception and evolution of urban environments, challenging students to explore how architecture responds to—and shapes—its surrounding context.

Through a combination of site analysis, spatial synthesis, and environmental strategy, students investigated the relationship between built form and public space. The studio culminated in proposals for a satellite public/private facility integrating mixed-use programming within a dense urban framework. Emphasis was placed on how architecture can mediate between civic identity, spatial performance, and contextual relevance.
